Narendra Modi Today at Sambalpur

By Express News Service - SAMBALPUR

Sambalpur seems to be in grip of saffron mania ahead of 'Vijaya Sankalp Samabesh' of BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at the PHED Ground here on Friday.

Modi's visit will kick off the BJP's election campaign for the first phase of General Elections scheduled for April 10. The town is dotted with BJP flags and hoardings of Modi and local party leaders.

On Thursday, the BJP office here was abuzz with activities with efforts being made for success of the 'Vijaya Sankalp Samabesh'. In fact, measures have been put in place to overshadow the BJD convention that was held at the same venue on March 5 which was attended by about 60,000 people.

As the sound system failed during Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's convention, BJP workers have hired a special sound system from Chhattisgarh.

Chief spokesperson of the BJP Suresh Pujari said Modi would arrive at Jamadarpali airstrip at 12 noon from New Delhi.

The party leaders are expecting a crowd of two lakh from across the region and arrangements have accordingly been made with special thrust on drinking water and mobile lavatories.

Sambalpur SP Prateek Mohanty said 22 platoons of police have been deployed to maintain law and order during the convention
